วิหารเซฟพัลเคอร์ ในนครเยรูซาเล็มของอิสราเอลเนืองแน่นไปด้วยชาวคริสต์นิกายออร์โธด็อกซ์กว่า 1 หมื่นคน ที่ไปร่วมพิธีจุดไฟศักดิ์สิทธิ์ เนื่องในเทศกาลอีสเตอร์ที่จัดขึ้นหลังงานชาวคริสต์ในนิกายอื่นหลายสัปดาห์
วิหารแห่งนี้ตั้งอยู่บนจุดที่ชาวคริสต์เชื่อว่า ร่างของพระเยซูถูกนำมาฝังไว้ หลังจากถูกทหารโรมันตรึงด้วยไม้กางเขน ส่วน ไฟศักดิ์สิทธิ์ก็มาจากเปลวเพลิงบนหลุมศพของพระเยซู ที่เชื่อกันว่าเป็นเปลวเพลิงนิรันดร์ ที่เกิดขึ้นเองโดยไม่มีใครจุดขึ้น
พิธีจุดไฟศักดิ์สิทธิ์ เริ่มขึ้นโดยบาทหลวงชั้นผู้ใหญ่นำคบเพลิงเข้าไปจุดไฟจาก หน้าหลุมศพพระเยซู จากนั้นก็นำออกมาให้ผู้ศรัทธาได้จุดต่อๆ กันไป และยังมีการนำเปลวเพลิงนี้ขึ้นเครื่องบินไปตามเมืองต่างๆ ทั่วโลก เพื่อให้ชาวคริสต์นิกายออร์โธด็อกซ์ได้สักการะบูชาด้วย

Thousands celebrate Holy Fire
Apr 26 – Orthodox Christians attend the Holy Fire ceremony in Jerusalem and Bethlehem, to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The faithful filled the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Church of the Nativity to see the flames of the Holy Fire.
The ceremony takes place a day before the celebration of Orthodox Easter and is considered to be a miracle that occurs every year.
Seconds after the Orthodox patriarch lit the candle, the fire spread rapidly throughout the congregation, with worshippers lighting one another’s candles.
Worshippers believe, a sun beam shone through the window in the ceiling of the church and lit a lamp placed in Christ’s tomb.
